Welcome to Quinns specialist ladies department store—possibly the only shop of its kind in Australasia and certainly one of only a handful around the world.
There’s a saying in Christchurch “you’ll find it at Quinns.” And it’s probably true!
From timeless style to modern and edgy pieces, European boots to statement sandals. cocktail dresses to the latest designer jeans, you’ll find two entire floors of New Zealand and international designer fashion at Quinns in Merivale.
Tomorrow’s Fashion Today
Founder Margaret Quinn, along with her assistant Jen Smith, go to extraordinary lengths to provide fresh and desirable fashion. They have the world to choose from and do, regularly travelling overseas on buying trips to personally select every item that comes into the store.
It means we have more designer labels than anywhere else in New Zealand–over 250 in fact from New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the US. Many brands are only available in Christchurch at Quinns.
New stock arrives daily from around the world. We only buy a few of each item and they often sell out the same day! Expect something new tomorrow!
A Landmark Shopping Destination
Quinns was born in Margaret Quinn’s home back in 1973. It soon outgrew its welcome, with the support of husband Pat, the business moved to 205 Papanui Road in Merivale, the heart of Christchurch’s most stylish shopping precinct. Thanks to Margaret’s vision of ‘fashion for tomorrow’ and the couple’s commitment to the business, Quinns quickly became a landmark shopping destination in Christchurch.
It wasn’t long before larger premises were needed and in 1976 we moved most of the business a few doors down to our present location at 195 Papanui Road. In fact we have been in Merivale so long the Mall has been built around us!
The Quinns Family
Despite our success we remain a family run business. We could have created more Quinns elsewhere but we decided we’d rather just do one store well! Some of our original ladies still shop with us and we are proud to now be serving the second generation of Quinns customers.
Our team of 36 staff is extremely loyal–the average length of service is 15 years! Their knowledge of fashion is unparalleled in Christchurch and enables us to provide a level of service few stores can match.
The touches of the Quinns team are everywhere—what we buy, how we display it and of course, helping customers achieve tomorrow’s look.
